“Death Valley” excerpt from Hello World: Travels in Virtuality

Death Valley ahead
The influence of the desert keeps coming up in my research conversations on this trip. It reminds me that people who've read my 2004 book Hello World: Travels in Virtuality have often remarked on the section which tells the story of my abortive trip to Death Valley when it finally dawned on me that the real can be a lot more scary than the virtual. So with the help of two Twitter friends  mrmackenzie and myrlueck with access to the tools needed to chop up a pdf, I am providing here a standalone doc of just that section. Hope you enjoy it. The whole book can be downloaded free from Raw Nerve here
