This month I am presenting as part of The Common Ground Research Media Lab Speaker Series, Imagining Futures. The series offers members of Common Ground a place of learning and interaction by introducing in online conversation sessions led by some of the world’s leading researchers, practitioners, artists and civic leaders. The Imagining Futures series aims to create linkages that cross disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. In considering our collective futures, we must build strategies for action. The aim is not just to reflect upon the world, but to nurture a commitment to change it.

I will be talking aboutTechnobiophilia: Nature in the Digital. Digital nature used to be frowned upon, but the pandemic has shown that experiences of nature via a screen can play an important role in stress reduction. My 2013 book ‘Technobiophilia: Nature and Cyberspaceexplored the reasons behind this apparently contradictory effect, and in this talk I will revisit and discuss them. The talk will be roughly 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes of Q & A.

You don’t need to be a member of Common Ground to come along, so please do register and join in the conversation. Full details of the series can be found here.
